Valentine’s Day Scavenger Hunt Ideas for Kids

January 13, 2018 by Brooklyn Leave a Comment

Valentine’s Day is the best holiday in February!

(Sorry, Presidents and groundhogs.)

Not only do children get to give and receive pink and red candy, but you get to purchase chocolates half-off the following day!

I’d like to point you in the direction of another fun activity besides those, one that can easily become a family tradition every V Day: Valentine’s Day Scavenger Hunt.

The classy ladies over at Dating Divas have put together a super fun game involving clues that lead to activities.

All you’ll need to purchase are some white paper sacks and candy.

Each bag will need the heart-tastic printout attached to it, then its assigned game put inside.

These games are fun and easy for all age levels, like Tic-Tac-Toe.

Another game for the bags is a fun heart-stacking minute-to-win-it challenge.

Besides these two, you’ll find: Love Struck, Catch the Cootie, and Love Match Memory games.

And, since it is Valentine’s Day, your game pieces will be conversation hearts!

Given that children will be involved, be sure to buy A LOT.

You and I know that edible tokens rarely stay tokens for long.

On top of a game and candy, each bag will hold the printed clue for where to go next.

The clues are pretty little things, each with a rhyme and fun text patterns.

They’re designed to lead participants to common household locations, places most people have.

“Your first clue starts in a place not too far,

Go to the place where you would keep a car.”

If you’ve got somewhere your vehicle is stored, Clue #1 will lead everyone there.

Not sure you’ll have the next clue’s location? Well, do you ever wash dishes?

“When Cupid’s arrow strikes, lovebirds get flirty.

Go to the place where you put dishes that are dirty!”

Word of advice: don’t put the bag in there while it’s running.

It may be difficult to tell from the picture, but another clue reads, “…Go to the place where you read lots of books.”

Depending on ages, this might give you the opportunity to sneakily shove the bag between a couple of fat dictionaries.

“Love is tender, love is sweet,”

They’ll find another treat at the place where food will re-heat.

Again, be sure no one needs to warm up a burrito during the hunt.

Clue 5 (if you use this order) leads to everyone’s favorite outdoor cooker.

Turn the gas and flames off, and set the highly-flammable clue somewhere cool.

Last and wettest, “find a place where you are not only showered with love but with water.”

Near the shower works, too.

Well, you’ve traversed the house from garage to grill.

Our intrepid explorers deserve a reward for their masterful sleuthing!

The Divas recommend that old Valentine’s classic: Hershey’s Kisses. They’ve even created little printables for the bottoms.

Place your bag of sweet treats inside the final clue bag for the kiddos to find (and eat!).
