Ah, February: the shortest and dullest month of the year.
I fully believe Valentine’s Day was invented to sucker guys into romanticism.
Besides that, we need the bold, BRIGHT, vibrant shades of V Day to relieve the end-of-winter monotony.
I know it sounds silly, but I can’t remember ever thinking to decorate my porch mid-February. I could be spreading so much cheer!
Like this pictured porch, all I need are a few colored hearts on the dead plants and trees already nearby.
Add to that a garland with ribbon, some floral accents and a sign, and I’m set.
So… I don’t actually have a Valentine’s Day sign, either.
Good thing Michael’s has signs. That, and all the supplies I could ever want if I make it myself.
This sign was pieced together with painted supplies, and embellished with jute and gingham ribbon.
If you make this, remember to distress the edges for that rustic look.
Really, decorating the porch is about finding the right starting pieces and adding seasonal touches.
Starting pieces like a cute table and rocking chair. Or, that old chicken wire frame you’ve been keeping in storage.
Then, it’s a matter of a heart pillow, ROSES sign, hanging hearts, and roses in the pot to love it up.
Don’t have many seasonal accents? Me, neither. I didn’t even have a sign.
I don’t have a lot of supplies, either. I do have leftover cans.
If I spray them all gray, plus a funnel and handle, I could make this perfectly adorable tin man.
I suppose I’ll need to shop Amazon for a heart; but, at least that’s better than trekking across Oz.
I don’t know about you, but I think Tunnel of Love with a setup like this.
These people are definitely trying to liven up February, or invite couples on a boat ride down the porch.
If you’re keen to paint your porch this red; you’ll need several red heart garlands, hanging heart wreaths, paper glitter hearts round the base of the door, and a LIGHT UP Love sign.
Getting a little sick of hearts? You can still spread the love with conversation dice.
You read me right: dice with “love,” “kiss,” “be mine,” “call me,” etc. vinyled on them.
Start with wood cubes, in whatever size you want your dice. Then, paint and distress them in pinks, reds, and whites.
Dig out your vinyl letters, neighbor with a machine that does that, or your mad painting skills to finish them off.
As I said earlier about porches, it’s all about the right beginning.
So, you’ve got to go find a perfect little shabby chic side table like this one pictured.
If everyone’s sold out, use what you can find. The Valentine’s element is really found in the hearts on the chalkboard, and that cute pallet heart.
Who says you’ve got to make a big deal in decorating? Really, only that house with the light-up “Love” sign, that’s who.
I’m all for simplicity, especially if you can’t even get your Perfectionist side started.
So, get a wreath and (maybe) a garland. Craft up a picket fence with hearts. You can use them every year, plus decorate the fence thing with summer accents once it stops snowing.
I love wreaths. So many people are so creative with such a basic idea.
Take this amazingly loopy ribbon one, for example. Using a wire wreath frame, various ribbons have been looped and fluffed throughout the gaps.
The pièce de résistance? That cute and simple chalkboard heart painted with “Oh, how he loves us.”
Still got some pallet lying around from other crafts?
Consider sawing up this design of letters as a porch decoration.

Maybe you’d consider lighting the porch with a pink string this year.
Lights are so easy to get and hang, and come in a variety of colors.
Your doors will glow proudly, as a beacon of love to all your neighborhood.

It’s a planter with stacked (painted) wood hearts, and a vine up the tower.
Get some wood heart cut-outs, a dowel to stick them all together, and paint. Accent with a fake vine or garland, plus ribbons.
Now, here’s a porch that’s more my cup of tea.
I’m liking the X and O as simple wreaths, the candles, and the basic pillow.
Since the house is already white with red doors; it has a natural, less-tacky feel to the setup.
What’s more iconic than conversation hearts on V Day?
Whip up this planter and porch setup with painted styrofoam hearts.
Add some plant and flowers filler around the base, and matching pillows for the nearby chair.
Since we’re talking conversation hearts, you have a lot of choices in which message to choose.
