If you live in an apartment or townhome you might not be able to put up a plethora of lights to show off your Christmas spirit. Or it’s possible that you don’t have anyone to help you get the lights up and it’s a task you’re not up to doing on your own. One of the easiest and best ways to show off your holiday spirit is to decorate your windows. Why? Because they can be seen from the street, which makes them great for passersby and they can also add a significant amount of cheer to the inside of your home. So, if you’re looking to decorate your windows with some festive Christmas decorations, then look no further! I’ve got some fabulous suggestions for festive Christmas window decor ideas that will show off your holiday spirit.
This Christmas window is a little much for me-plus it would stay that way for about .5 seconds before my children decided to run away with the reindeer, my husband “borrowed” the pillows for a nap and my dog absconds with the blanket. If your family is anything like mine, I’d suggest splitting up the elements so it’s a little simpler and easier to maintain.
Festive Christmas Window Decor Ideas
Christmas Window Decor Idea 01: Wreaths
This can be simple or detailed depending on the wreath. You can also hang these inside or outside depending on your preference. You can get beautiful wreaths that are prelit here. They will be well worth the price and are sure to bring Christmas cheer wherever you go. If you’re into DIY, then I’d suggest getting a base wreath like this one and adding your own decorations. You can stop at a simple red bow, or you can add more pops of color by using this red berry garland and weaving it throughout the wreath.
Christmas Window Idea 02: Garland
This option is especially great if you live in a city and are a little farther from Mother Nature. Whether you opt to border the entire window, just the top or the bottom, or drape it across the top quarter of the window, garlands are fabulous options. You can find a plethora of truly amazing garlands here. These come with the option to be pre-lit and really look luxurious. If you’re DIY ready, grab this prelit garland and fill it with whatever strikes your fancy. These white coiled berries would set any window apart when paired with a lit garland.
Christmas Window Idea 03: Ornaments
Ornaments aren’t just for your tree, ya know. The first window example above has some ornaments hung from a branch that is then hung at the top of the window. You can do the same thing with or without the branch! All you need are some command strips like these and you’re in business. Then you just need to grab some ornaments like these or some strings of lit snowflakes like these and you’re in business. I’d suggest keeping this to the interior of your windows rather than the exterior so that the ornaments don’t get damaged by the great outdoors.
Christmas Window Idea 04: Painted Windows
This window works best for interiors so that the stickers or paint don’t get damaged by bad weather. Whether you opt for window clings (stickers and gels) or actually painting your windows, this is a great option to add a little holiday spirit! These white stickers are versatile for any type of decor, while these Santa and Reindeer stickers are sure to add a little color and personality to your windows. If you want to DIY this one, have your kids get in on the action and create a bunch of snowflakes! Then gently stick them to the window (2-sided tape works wonders) and give them a little spray with some of this spray snow. All you need to set this Christmas Window apart from the rest are some soft LED candles like these.
Christmas Window Idea 05: Cozy Christmas Scene
If you’re lucky enough to have a window that has a bench, then this is definitely the set up you should go for. Grab a soft and cozy blanket like this one, add a few decorative pillows (like these or these) and an additional element like this darling lantern or standing Santa. Then you’re good to go!
I hope that these suggestions will help you take a second look at your windows and use them to help spread some holiday cheer! Happy Holidays!
