Easter is nearly here; we’d better hop to it!
Fortunately, we’re not the only procrastinators out there. “Doubley” fortunately, there are many others who stopped to post pictures of their last-minute ideas.
Let’s say, for example, that you’ve at least got some Easter candy laying around. Maybe you picked some up from that end cap aisle while grabbing Easter Eve pizza, or (even better) found a stale bag left over from last year.
Pull out a vase, stick a smaller one inside, then line the space between with candy. Jellybeans and edible grass work well. I especially like the idea of using Peeps, though that’s because they’re low on my list of favorite sugar products.
Once you’ve created this masterwork of vase engineering, you may put fresh or fake flowers in the inner container.
Perhaps your tardy holiday plans need to include the old tradition of egg decorating.
Start some up boiling, then pick up a gold leaf kit. If you missed the Amazon boat, craft stores like Michael’s might have some metallic gold leaf hanging around.
After coloring the eggs the traditional way, let them dry. Then, apply random patches of glue, followed by gold leaf. Messily peel off the excess leaf once it’s dried on.
This homemade Easter grass is the best. idea. ever. It’s super fast if you have a paper shredder, but can also be done if you have a few human shredders -also known as “children.”
Simply fold some papers into fans, then run them through the shredder with the fold lines parallel to the machine.
Like I said, though, you can also hand a bunch of paper to kids and tell them to rip it up.
I’m always on the lookout for crafts my kids can do. This is especially true around events like Easter, so The Bunny can have a few minutes of secret preparation time.
This idea is a two-fer: glue strips of paper onto a paper to make a basket, then stamp egg shapes into it.
Those eggs were from cut sponges, but you can use practically anything cut into an oval. Try potato halves, for example.
Not everything with Easter and eggs needs to turn out hard-boiled and multi-colored.
These elegant flower displays are the product of a carefully cleaned-out egg shell, filled with dirt, and planted with a daisy.
They’re a perfect representation of the re-birth of Easter and springtime.
To make a few theme-appropriate balloons, you’ll need good craft markers. These lines were drawn with Sakura Permapaque ones.
Just inflate the balloons, color squiggly patterns, tie to sticks, and display.
As we talked about before, spring is the season for flowers.
That’s why crafting up some daffodil jellybean containers works so well. They’re, um… flowers, and there’s …Easter candy.
Yep -Easter and candy. That’s all we need.
I often think that all these craft ideas are silly. You’re just doing the same thing over and over.
Well, that was before I volunteered to help with kids’ class parties a few times. You really need some time-fillers!
This egg coloring idea is great; not just to kill time, but to make something beautiful that is also very easy. All you’ll need is egg-shaped paper, masking tape, and crayons.
They’re almost like stained glass.
You might not be able to tell from the picture, but this is a bunny-folded napkin.
I was thinking, “What if people need a table decorating idea, like for Easter brunch?” Voilà!
You’re just a few easy folds away from an entire cloth warren.
Last but not least, I give you three-dimensional paper eggs.
Each egg is five cardstock papers stapled together. Then, it’s unfolded. No gluing or anything.
We’re definitely making these.
